miles away

yesterday was a very important day. was not my birthday nor anyone in my family was born. Yesterday it did not matter if you were in one country or another of the world. Yesterday we hug, we kiss, cry, laugh, enjoy, suffer ... Yesterday, far from home, I felt closer than ever. I trembled with excitement to see that ball finally went inside the goal, I cried when he saw the captain mourn, I cried as she hugged friends and strangers too, because yesterday we were all Spanish.

It may seem absurd to mourn for a simple sport, but yesterday, miles from home, carrying the colors of my country with more pride than ever, because it was not just sport, was the feeling of being where I am, the streets smelling flowers and paella, the beaches of fine sand, beer in a summer terrace, flamenco, wine and a nap. One day my kids ask me where I was the day that Spain won the world cup, and Bournemouth was the setting for these sentiments. iniesta thanks for letting us touch the sky.
